Our Story
GLISTENBURY
Firstly, a question often asked, why "Glistenbury?"
A little bit of local history.......
Glusburn is believed to date back as far as the 8th century,
The etymology of Glusburn is found to be,
glistening/shining....stream/beck
Our music event & fundraiser is made possible with the help and contributions of so many others. My special thanks go to the families of Chris Riley & Kevin Clayton.
Also to many music artists, production help, individual contributions from local councillors, local businesses, organisations, and many other individuals including a team of volunteers, I am truly grateful for everyone's continued help.
As our 'Village in Bloom' Glusburn Park fundraiser of 2022, in memory of Chris Riley, becomes an annual event, by popular demand! We are proud to present 'Glistenbury' as its new music event name. The second stage for additional music was added in 2023 in memory of Kevin Clayton, a key organiser, and contributor in 2022.
The event was born out of the "Village in Bloom" competition & presentation event, and will remain a part of this community fun day.
The Main Organisers,
South Craven Together a Community Business Group, with support from Glusburn & Cross Hills Parish Council, along with many others without whom the event wouldn't be possible, my thanks again go to all !
